Here is the perfect, whole sand dollar I found as a sign from Jan on an Oregon beach the last Saturday in April.
Not sure why I didn’t think to take a photo and post it with the story at the time. (You can read that story by clicking here).
Jan not only loved the beach, she also loved flowers and was a faithful customer when I owned and operated a retail nursery in Shedd, Oregon from 1986-1999. Photographing the sand dollar surrounded by flowers seemed appropriate.
There is also a touching story written about Jan and her signs by Jan’s daughter, Jennie here.
Actually, I’m kind of glad that I didn’t post this photo with the sand dollar story. Why? Because Jan’s husband, Doug, who was also a friend of mine, left this earth on Monday, May 21. He’s now in a better place with his beloved Jan and their daughter Juli. I hope they’re all three smiling and dancing as I write this.
So Doug, this dollar is for you – a tribute in your memory. May you rest peacefully.
