MIST is a paranormal suspense set in Roseland – a fictional Oregon Coast town based loosely on Newport. The novel is about a young widow, an old flame, a fortune-teller and a pack of evil dogs. It’s about picking up the pieces and moving beyond grief.
The main character, Dianne is guided by the voice of her dead grandmother. This is the first time Dianne hears her grandmother’s voice:
I shut my eyes and draw in a breath. The air smells like lavender. Ridiculous. Grandma isn’t here. She’s gone from my life forever.
Not forever, Dianne. We will be together again someday.
Okay Grandma. That’s good to know.
What a minute…Grandma? Is that really you? I look at Kevin to see if he heard the voice. If he did, he gives no indication.
Am I going nuts here?
Tag! You’re it…Paty Jager, Genene Valleau, Trudy Schoenborn, Jane Porter, Jill Marie Landis, Barrie Summy, Maureen McGowan.
I posted this to my Facebook page. But since the theme of signs from beyond is so interwoven into MIST, it seemed appropriate to share it here, too. The road sign in the photo is an actual landmark in Shedd, Oregon. But as we all know, the cemetery is not really the end, is it? (Click on photo for a larger image).
MIST is scheduled for release around Thanksgiving.
