What is the working title of your book?
Daisies are True
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Years ago I wrote a short story to enter in a writing contest. This novella spun off that entry. As I’ve rewritten, the story has morphed into something entirely new and unexpected.
What genre does your book fall under?
Romance with paranormal elements
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Julia Roberts and Antonio Banderas. Except they’d need to be about 10-15 years younger!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? A female attorney and a male gardener seem an unlikely pair – but is something otherworldly trying to match them together?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
My debut novel, Mist is self-published. I may send Daisies are True to a couple of smaller presses for consideration, but I don’t plan to sign with an agent.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
About two months. But the final draft will take longer. I can write nonfiction quickly, but I am a ploddingly slow fiction writer.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I’ve racked my brain and I can’t think of a single one that’s similar. I even went on Amazon and looked around to see if I could find one and couldn’t .
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Most of my story ideas come from dreams. This one came from a good dream, unlike Mist which came from a nightmare.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Peanut butter taffy plays an important role. So does a funky, hot pink hat. Oh, and one of the characters is a fluffy orange and white cat named Barney.
