Koko and Halle struck up a friendship this past week. It is a joy to watch them interact. When Koko hangs out at the fence line that separates the horse and alpaca fields, Halle hurries over.
The two touch noses. Halle reaches as high as her neck will stretch to nuzzle Koko’s face and mane. Koko sniffs Halle’s back.
It makes me smile to see animals form friendships. But I think it’s extra charming when the animal friends belong to different species, like these two.
I think there’s a lesson in all this – we should love one another, in spite of our differences. Or maybe even because of them.
